teaching kids how to make safe fires
A young woman's Rite of Passage
This was a group of 8th graders who on their final night carried a coal out far into the woods. Then they each got a coal and had to catch a tinder bundle on fire and build and sustain their own fires. One of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen, 19 bright lights spread out over a hillside!
